Three of the most common ailments requiring treatment or evaluation by a gastroenterologist are gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) or heartburn; ulcers; and colorectal cancer.
We at Northern Hospital are excited to offer a technology that will better assist our local gastroenterology specialists in diagnosing disorders of the small intestine. The M2A™ Capsule Endoscope (pictured left), or camera in a pill, was pioneered by Given Imaging Corporation to give patients a non-invasive option for diagnosis of certain small intestine disorders. Northern Hospital of Surry County is the first in our region to offer this cutting edge technology.
