Volunteering
Volunteers take very seriously their promise to enhance the mission of the hospital through service to the patients, visitors and staff of Northern Hospital. The volunteers wear their uniform jackets with pride.
There are many jobs and areas of service for adult and junior volunteers who have gone through orientation and training. Some of the areas of service include:
- Admissions/Discharge
- Clerical
- Day Surgery Center
- Dietary
- Emergency Dept.
- Floral Delivery
- Fundraising
- General Escort
- Gift Shop
- Hospitality
- Information Desk
- Intensive Care/Step-Down Unit
- Mail/Newspaper Delivery
- Marketing
- Medical Clinics
- Pediatrics
- Patient Registration
- Patient/Family Services
- Rehab
Junior Volunteers do many of the same jobs the adult volunteers do during the summer when they are out of school and able to give their time.
The Auxiliary is an organization made up of volunteers who support the hospital with their time and talents. Their fund raising efforts purchase many items for the hospital. The Auxiliary members enjoy themselves throughout the year with socials and get-togethers.
The Gift Shop is an area of service staffed by the Volunteers. The Shop has a vast array of unique gifts for sale to the public. Proceeds of the Shop are used to purchase items for the Hospital by the Volunteer Services Program.
Anyone interested in being a Volunteer is asked to call 336-783-8196 or email swatson@nhsc.org. Volunteering is worthwhile, rewarding and FUN!
