The Emergency Department at Northern Hospital provides care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our staff of caring physicians, nurses and technologists is highly trained to provide competent, compassionate care even during the most critical situations.
A triage nurse is on duty at all times to assess the patient's condition as they arrive and determine the level of urgency that is needed for treatment. During peak hours, the Emergency Department is staffed with two physicians. During the slower morning hours, one physician is present. Each physician is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and is specially trained for all types of emergencies including cardiac, pediatric, and trauma situations. The Emergency Department is located next to the Radiology and Laboratory services allowing our patients to receive immediate access to important diagnostic services.
Northern Hospital has a helipad for the convenience of flight transfers to enable patient transfers by air.
When coming to the Emergency Department, please bring with you a list of any medications (including over-the-counter medications) that you may be taking and a list of medication drug allergies you may have. It would also be helpful to include a list of any medical conditions you may have been treated for in the past. It is often difficult to remember this information during stressful/fearful times. Also, please bring with you a copy of your insurance card. Even if you have been a patient in the hospital before, the admissions/registration staff will need a copy, each time you register as a patient.
