MRI and Nuclear Medicine Receive Accreditation

7/21/2011

The American College of Radiology (ACR) has awarded Northern Hospital of Surry County’s (NHSC) MRI and Nuclear Medicine services three-year terms of accreditation as a the result of their recent reviews of these diagnostic imaging modalities. The MRI and Nuclear Medicine services received their initial 3-year accreditation terms by the ACR in 2008.
Achieving ACR Accreditation is a significant indicator of the quality and performance of medical imaging. It is only awarded to facilities which demonstrate, through a rigorous application and peer-review evaluation by ACR board certified physicians and medical physicists, the highest practice standards. The CT, Ultrasound, and Mammography services at Northern Hospital and at the NHSC Breast Imaging Center location are also ACR Accredited and have been for several years.
